There appear to be many differences in reporting about whether or not Mary Shatswell had children by John Emery. Savage notes some of this, Vol 2, p. 119. Mary Shatswell had person sources.2,3,4 She was mentioned in the will of John Shatswell before February 1646/47.5

Biography

John Shatswell was born between 1597 and 1598 in Ipswich, Suffolk, England.1 He and Joanna [Shatswell] were married say 1642.1 He died between 11 February 1646/47 and 30 March 1647 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts.1
From "Historical and Genealogical Shatswells of Ipswich, No 1" by Augustine Caldwell, p. 1-4: John and Johanna Shatswell came to Ipswich in 1633. He was one of the first to erect a house for himself, and was appointed a surveyor of the land upon which others built. His homestead is still in possession of his descendants, and has never been out of the name. The lands granted to John Shatswell in April, 1635, are found recorded by the Clerk in 1635, April 20, as follows: 'April 20, 1635. Their was granted to John Shatswell, about six acres of ground uppon percell whereof the said John Shatswell hath built an house, lying betweene Mr. Wades house lott on the East, and Mr. Firmans on the west, hauving goodman webster house lotte on the north east. Also a percell of land part marsh part upland, containing twenty-five acres in the whole, lying between Mr. Dudley's toward the Southland humphrey Bradstreet towards the North. Also a farme containing two hundred acres lying beyond the North commonly called Egypt River, adjoying to the bounds of Newbery.'. John Shatswell had person sources.2,1 He was fined for "distemper in drink" on 3 September 1633 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts.3 He made a will before February 1646/47.3 The estate of John Shatswell was probated in March 1647.
