COMMENT: Simpson was somehow associated with a Laffayatte BELL who might have been his brother. Recent IGI updates have a Simpson Bell (b. 1789, Worcester Co, MA) the son of John Bell and Hannah White. In 1880 Hannah Jane (Bell) Alderman stated that her father was born in Mass. I'll assume that Simpson was the son of John and Hannah and look for proof. Simpson Bell appeared in the census in 1840 in Ashtabula Co, Ohio. The estate of Simpson Bell was probated from March 1848 to 16 December 1862 in Ashtabula Probate Dist., Ohio.^2,3

John Carrington was born about 1602. He died in 1651 in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut.

Both John & Joann CARRINGTON were executed for "familiarty with Satan and works above the course of nature." Jury included: Mesers Phelps, Tailcout, Hollister, David Wilton, John White, Wm. Lewis, Sam Smith, John Pratt, John Moore, Ed. Griswold, Stephen Hart & Thomas Judd. Mr. Carrington was a carpenter. John Carrington's business partner was Thomas Kirkman. Will probated Mar 1652/3 but not recorded by court order. John Carrington had person sources.^1,2 He immigrated about June 1635 to Massachusetts onboard the Susan and Ellen. He purchased property in 1644 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Conn.

Biography

John or Richard Childerstone and Frances Elliot were married on 27 July 1764 in St. Paul's Ch., Philadelphia, PA.¹ He was buried on 4 June 1771 at St. Peter's Churchyard+ in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.²

The records in Philadelphia seem confused. There is either a single person who went by both John and Richard or there are two people. I will assume for now that it is one person. Previously we believed that there was one John Childerstone (Roger's son). It has now become clear that it would have been very hard for one John to be in two places at once. John or Richard Childerstone had person sources.^3,4 He was living in August 1765 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Biography

John or Richard Childerstone and Frances Elliot were married on 27 July 1764 in St. Paul's Ch., Philadelphia, PA.¹ John Elliott and she were married between 1771 and 1781. She died on 8 January 1842 in Butler Co., Pennsylvania.

Her name was also spelled Frances Knot. It is possible that Frances was that daughter of a John & Frances Knox. There is a burial record for Frances, wife of John, 18 Feb 1779 in St. Peters, Phila. (Christ Church records) It is also possible that "Knot" was a transcription error. In the manuscript version of the church records, it is clearly "Frances Elliot". This means that she may have been some relative of her second husband, John Elliott. Frances Elliot was named an heir in the will of John Elliott on 5 October 1781.^2,3 She appeared in the census in 1790 in Franklin Co, Pennsylvania.⁴

John Coe was born on 10 May 1658 in Stratford, Fairfield, Conn.¹ He and Mary Hawley were married on 20 December 1682.^2,1 He died on 19 April 1741 at age 82.^2,1 He was buried at the Congregational Church Burial Ground in Stratford, Fairfield, Conn.³

Lt. John Coe had person sources.^2,3,4 He made a will on 29 January 1740.³ The estate of Lt. John Coe was probated on 5 May 1741.³
