Biography

Francois Nicole Prevost was born about 1747 in Paris, France. He died on 14 March 1831 in Baltimore, Maryland.¹

From available information, it appears he was sent from France to Santo Domingo to act as a magistrate after France took possession of the entire island of Hispaniola under the 1795 Peace of Basel. He was forced to flee to New Orleans during the revolution of 1801 but returned after French rule was restored in 1802. He was forced to flee again either following the uprising of 1808 or the Haitian invasion of 1821. Francois Nicole Prevost lived in Baltimore, Maryland, about 1811.¹
