Biography

William Immanuel Huffman was born about 1795 in South Carolina. He and Margaret Zimmerman were married in 1818. He and Olivia Wingford [Blackmun] were married on 21 April 1829 in Montgomery Co., Alabama. He died on 30 December 1861 in Attala Co., Mississippi.^1,2

(The parentage of William Huffman is unknown at this time.) William Immanuel Huffman came to Red Bud Springs in or near 1842 while on his way to Texas with his oldest son Russell and a German group from the Fort Deposit area of Alabama. Olivia Huffman (his wife) became ill and could not travel on to Texas. William agreed with the others that he would stay in Red Bud Springs (Kosciusko) until Olivia was well enough to travel or had died and then join them in Texas. Well, Olivia did not die and William never got to Texas as the couple had many children there in Attala County and are both buried in the old part of the Kosciusko cemetery (alas no marker). [Ramsey Huffman]. William Immanuel Huffman and Olivia Wingford [Blackmun] appeared in the census on 17 September 1850 in Attala Co., Mississippi.³ He was administrator for estate of Albert Huffman on 16 December 1858 in Attala Co., Mississippi. He appeared in the census on 11 July 1860 in Attala Co., Mississippi.⁴ He made a will on 27 August 1861 in Attala Co., Mississippi.⁵ The estate of William Immanuel Huffman was probated from 23 January 1862 in Attala Co., Mississippi.^6,7,8
