  • Note: The names and dates of the children of Fortunatus and Joanna Sydnor, apparently the progenitors of all of the Sydnors who later spread throughout the United States, were copied by William Sydnor in an 1804 Bible from an earlier Bible. The 1804 Bible was rediscovered in Hannibal, MO in 1896 by Walter Sydnor, attorney of Ashland, VA, in the possession of Burwell Starke and published in Tyler's Magazine pp. 282-287. The information was subsequently confirmed by Mrs. Addie L. Sydnor of Corder MO, for F. W. Sydnor, F.A.G.S., in 1926. The Bible was later destroyed in a fire" (Sydnor Thompson, "Sydnor of Virginia."
