(Kwass or kvass is a traditional Slavic fermented beverage commonly made from rye bread.) Samuel Kwass immigrated about 1887 to the United States. In 1900 Samuel Kwass was a confectioner. He and Sarah [Kwass] appeared in the census on 6 June 1900 in Pocohantas, Tazewell, Virginia.¹ He and Sarah [Kwass] appeared in the census in 1910 in Pocohantas, Tazewell, Virginia.
