Alfonso VI was born before June 1040. He and Constance of Burgundy were married. He and Agnes of Aquitaine were married. He and Isabel or Zaida were married. He and Agnes of Aquitaine were divorced. He died on 1 July 1109.

Alfonso married at least five times and had two mistresses and a fiancée. Which wives or mistresses are the mothers of his children can be confusing. Alfonso VI, King of Castile, had person sources.^1,2

Biography

Robert I Capet was born about 1011.¹ He and Helie of Semur were married in 1033. He and Helie of Semur were divorced in 1046. He and Ernmengarde d'Anjou were married about 1048. He died on 21 March 1076.¹

Throughout his reign, he was little more than a robber baron who had no control over his own vassals, whose estates he often plundered, especially those of the Church. He seized the income of the diocese of Autun and the wine of the canons of Dijon. He burgled the abbey of St-Germain at Auxerre. In 1055, he repudiated his wife, Helie of Semur, and assassinated her brother Joceran and murdered her father, his father-in-law, Lord Dalmace I of Semur, with his own hands. In that same year, the bishop of Langres, Harduoin, refused to dedicate the church of Sennecy so as not "to be exposed to the violence of the duke." (Wikipedia.) Reference nr. Weis108-22.
